Happy Birthday, Aaron!

Today is a big day in Casa de Lavender.

Today my husband crosses over to the other side.

Today is Aaron’s 30th birthday!

30 seems like such a big deal.  We’re talking full-fledged adulthood.  None of this twenty-something nonsense.  No more child-like antics, no more immature jokes (thank goodness!), no more partying til dawn because we just can’t stay up that late.  And a whole new (less competitive) racing age division!

{Check out that incredible display of maturity!}

Yeah…not so much.

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.  ~Chili Davis

I think it goes without saying that I love every second of my husband’s silliness, and I would never imagine trying to squish it out of him now that he’s at such an advanced age!

We celebrated a last few days of immaturity this weekend in Durango, CO (more on that tomorrow).

Happy birthday, Aaron! 30 is just the beginning!

  1. Ha ha, good luck. My boyfriend crossed over a year and a half ago, and he still giggles like a child at toilet jokes, and goes out of his way to try and annoy me for fun.
By the way, love the scuba diving picture. So sophisticated! 🙂

    • Isn’t it! And yeah, I’m not expecting any major change in Aaron ever, but that’s ok because I’m not all that mature myself!

  2. I love that song! Happy Birthday to your husband! A little confession: my husband and I ‘crossed over’ two years ago, and we’re no more mature, although I often forget that I’m now 32 because I still feel about 27. I do have to remind my husband though, that while I deal with silly teenage boys at work all day, I don’t want to deal with another one at home 😉

    • Yeah, I’m always surprised when I remember how old I am (huh, when did late 20’s happen?), although this weekend we hung out in a college town, and we realized that we have grown up a little bit over the last few years! Though, like you guys, we hope to be in our 30’s and still having fun!

    • I’m obsessed too! Such a good song! Happy birthday to your husband as well! I have a couple of years before I hit 30 also, so I’m enjoying the kid years (and calling him old!).

    • Isn’t it great! I found it during a Google search, and it was the best one. I should probably look up the person who said it. For all I know, they could be some fascist dictator or something. And I will absolutely tell him! Thanks!

  3. Happy birthday, Aaron, and congrats on the big three-oh!!! Aaron and Jon seem very similar in their silliness, judging from those pictures and your comments, ha ha.

Durango, CO, you say?! This is totally random, but I think that’s where they make my dog’s favorite treats, Zuke’s! I have this twisted notion that the whole town smells like beef and chicken dog treats. I hope I am wrong.

    • I looked it up, and it does appear that Zuke’s is based out of Durango (very random because Durango is TINY). Luckily, I didn’t smell any evidence of this! It is actually a pretty charming ski resort/old western/college town. If I had known these amazing treats were made there, I probably would have tried to find them for Giuseppe!

    • I used to think 30 was so old too! The closer I get, the more I realize that age isn’t really all that important. Aaron seems rather unaffected…I’m making a much bigger deal of him being 30 than he’s making, so apparently it doesn’t change all that much when you get there!
